ABOUT THE 360 WORLD HERITAGE INITIATIVE

The Learn for Life 360 World Heritage Initiative, began with a simple vision – using immersive reality to build a bridge to a shared human experience. This vision has now been transformed into a immersive experience library featuring more than 3000 immersive visits through the EON XR Platform.

Purpose built for mobile learning, these world heritage site experiences on EON XR can now be used both in the classroom and at home with any basic smart device and desktop.

Operating a Fracking Blender in Immersive AR/VR

EON Reality now provides a realistic onboarding experience by allowing trainees to operate a life-sized fracking blender in a AR/VR environment.

The average fracking blenders weighs about 55,000 pounds and stretching up to 4 metres. Training on a real fracking blender can be difficult given its size and complexity, but we have found the solution.

Using this lesson, trainees can now be acquainted with a desk to life-sized fracking blender directly from their smart phones or desktop. Complete with annotations, memos, practical demonstrations and quizzes created by the instructor, the length of the trainee onboarding journey is significantly reduced by up to 75%.

Our findings are supported by a  PwC report which showed that virtual reality can help business leaders upskill their employees faster, even at a time when training budgets may be shrinking and in-person training may be off the table, as people continue to observe social distancing.

Understanding the Centrifugal Pump in AR and VR

Learn how engineering students are successfully using AR and VR to understand the workings of the centrifugal pump in a  lesson directly from their phone. The centrifugal pump is one of the most widely used pieces of equipment found in industry. Despite this, an engineering student often completes his course of study with only the vaguest idea about the selection and performance of pumps of both the centrifugal and axial flow types.

In this lesson created for the course in fluid mechanics, students are now introduced to the fundamentals of the centrifugal pump in an instructor led, hands on lesson. Complete with annotation, voice memos, animation and dissectable parts, the students can now learn how centrifugal pumps perform under the various load conditions. This lesson also serves an example of an effective use of VR and AR for visualizing phenomena through simulation for deeper understanding.

Developed as part of the Self-Directed Learning Initiative, this lesson module is part of the 20,000 lessons developed for 141 disciplines by the faculty and students of University for Business and Technology in Kosovo. These lessons have also been deployed as part of the blended learning approach adopted by the University, integrating the principles of active learning in a remote classroom environment.

World Heritage Site Initiative: Virtual Tour of Valparaíso

Join us on an immersive virtual tour on your smart phone or desktop to explore the historic quarter of Valparaíso on EON XR!  Created as part of the Learn for Life World Heritage Site Initiative, this immersive virtual tour takes you through the streets of colourful Valparaíso.

Located on central Chile’s Pacific coast, the Historic Quarter of the Seaport City of Valparaíso represents an extraordinary example of industrial-age heritage associated with the international sea trade of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The city was the first and most important merchant port on the sea routes of the Pacific coast of South America that linked the Atlantic and Pacific oceans via the Strait of Magellan. It had a major commercial impact on its region from the 1880s until the opening of the Panama Canal in 1914. After this date its development slowed, allowing its harbour and distinctive urban fabric to survive as an exceptional testimony to the early phase of globalisation.

The latest addition to its massive AR and VR library, the World Heritage Site Initiative is release of over 1000 “world heritage sites” in immersive and interactive 360° images and 3D models. These sites include famous locales past and present, including natural marvels like America’s National Parks and the famous Swiss Alps, man-made wonders such as the Golden Gate Bridge and Great Wall of China, and historic locations such as Ancient Babylonia and the Great Pyramid of Giza.

With this update, anyone can now curate and share their own experiences directly onto EON XR by using the immersive 360º lesson feature.

Train Safely on the Virtual Lathe Machine

EON XR is now revolutionising technical training, allowing students to train safely on the lathe machine directly from their phones in a virtual environment.

The lathe, an integral machine tool in woodturning, metal working, glass working and thermal spraying forms the fundamentals of industrial production.

In this series of lessons developed by University for Business and Technology, students learn first hand  how to safely operate and adjust machines to cut, shape, and drill.  Utilising hands-on practical training methodology, the lessons offer students an opportunity to acquire an understanding of the different functions and the safety and maintenance procedures associated with a lathe machine.

Upon completion of the course, students are expected to master lathe engine fundamentals and be able to perform key internal machining operations on the lathe.
