IRVINE, CA, May 15th, 2017 – EON Reality Inc., the world leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality based knowledge transfer for industry and education, announces that Swinburne University of Technology (Swinburne) is expanding its use of EON Reality’s scalable EON-XR platform. EON Reality’s software suite is becoming a key part of the course scope in mechanical, civil, and robotics mechatronics cohorts at the School of Engineering – Faculty of Science Engineering, and Technology at Swinburne.

To date more than 1500 students have taken part in the VR segment of the courses and the students’ response has been very encouraging.

Ambarish Kulkarni, a Senior Lecturer and Product Design Engineering course coordinator at Swinburne says: « We consider the use of AR and VR as an important technology enabler for Industry 4.0 and it is therefore important for us to bring this to our courses and students in an effective way. The students have had an overwhelmingly positive response to the AR and VR segment, and our combined EON-XR (Augmented and Virtual Reality) and 3D visualization studio where we have the EON Icube Mobile and a suite of other scalable AR and VR systems has also proven to be an important facility in this endeavor. »

Swinburne is not only conducting courses in the use of AR and VR, but also leveraging their capabilities in innovative industrial collaboration projects with local industry. A recent example includes a project for Bombardier Transportation where the EON Icube and Swinburne’s expertise helped Bombardier to design and evaluate new tram design in a highly effective manner using Virtual Reality. The resulting new tram design is now among the nominees for the 2017 Australian Good Design Awards

« With the Virtual Reality market set to become a Trillion Dollar market and a huge future job market, knowledge in EON-XR (Augmented and Virtual Reality) is quickly becoming a differentiator and important skillset. For EON Reality, academic partnerships are therefore an important part of our strategy and we have been impressed with the strong commitment from Swinburne to bring out AR and VR both in teaching as well as to their industry partners. », says Pontus Appelqvist, VP Asia at EON Reality.
