The framework agreement with the university opens the door for academic VR possibilities throughout Italy.
EON Reality, the global leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality-based knowledge and skills transfer for industry and education, announces the University of Siena as its latest partner in creating academic VR and AR content and opportunities with EON-XR.
For the University of Siena, the use of scalable academic VR and AR systems has a strong value proposition in many industries and subjects. Through this agreement, the school will have access to the latest technologies in this field for students, professionals, and industrial — all of which will promote significant collaboration opportunities for both organizations.
Combined with the efforts from their Italian neighbors at the Aldini Valeriani Institute and Kosovo’s University for Business and Technology — which has recently added nearly 55,000 assets to EON-XR — EON Reality and University of Siena will empower teachers, students, and workers to use educational VR and AR as a way to embrace remote hands-on learning and training. The ease of which users can experiment, create and share their digital content for education and industry through the use of EON Reality technology will help to feed creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication while simultaneously improving visual coordination, cognitive speed, and decision-making.
In addition to growing EON-XR’s European presence, the framework agreement with the University of Siena will also allow VR and AR academic research and education to take place within the school. Educators and students alike will be able to use EON-XR to learn, train, and perform in a more efficient manner, while advanced faculty and students will participate in master level lesson and program design.
As seen in many of the existing lesson highlights created by EON Reality’s partners and students around the world, the impact of the Global Emergency Initiative — first launched as an answer to the COVID-19 pandemic — has helped to transform the content available on EON-XR and will likely assist students for years to come. By allowing students and other end-users to create their own content (particularly with the assistance of the new Resource Center), EON Reality has helped to slow the immediate need to return to physical classrooms by providing an effective hands-on remote learning solution.
“We’re always working to make sure that academic VR and AR solutions are accessible to as many people as possible. Partnering with the University of Siena to create VR and AR lessons is a big step in the right direction for us, and I’m certain it won’t be the last. I truly believe that this is the opportunity of our lifetimes to reform education and make hands-on learning and training a possibility for students all over the world, regardless of location.”

The University of Siena is a perfect example of an academic institution using VR and AR to gain a competitive advantage in the global market. Through these tools, they will be able to nurture as much talent as possible to educate the next generation and shape the future workforce. Together with EON Reality, this could provide a great opportunity to transfer knowledge of local skills to the global community.
“In this age of social distancing linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, remote learning and teaching technologies have been fundamental in allowing us to continue our academic activities without interruption — which has slowed down the urgency to physically return to the classroom. Through this agreement with EON Reality, our university will have access to the latest technologies in the field of Augmented and Virtual Reality, which will provide an interesting contribution to the university's teaching, research, and technological activities.”
