EON Reality, the global leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality-based knowledge and skills transfer for industry and education, announces a new expansion with their South African partner, Vaal University of Technology (VUT), to roll out EON-XR to their students.
After initially beginning their partnership through a pilot program over the summer. EON Reality and VUT are looking to take the South African XR economy to new heights with the addition of the full-fledged EON-XR rollout. The two organizations have long shared a passion for bringing world-class academic solutions to those who need them most, with the original collaboration being based out of students’ needs for a more “hands-on” remote learning to get them through the COVID-19 pandemic.

EON Reality’s new South African expansion is the XR provider’s latest growth in its mission to bring EON-XR to as many users as possible around the world. With recent announcements coming from several different countries across multiple continents, the global recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic has been a significant opportunity for expansion for the industry leader.
For VUT, the new rollout marks their place as not only one of the largest academic institutions in the nation but also a South African leader in the international XR community. Considering the area’s status as a technology hub and desire to incorporate modern and futuristic technologies into everyday life, adding a large-scale rollout of EON-XR will likely contribute drastically to those goals.

EON-XR permits us to extend experiential learning into the classroom as we can experience the workplace in a realistic computer-generated environment. XR environments allows students and staff to experiment with science and engineering concepts in a safe environment, to co-create learning and to improve the quality of teaching and learning. VUT is based in an industrial hub which allows us to partner with Industry to create new learning experiences for training for high technology applications. We are really excited in incorporating EON-XR into our teaching as both augmented and virtual reality have been shown to help students to learning more effectively as it supports the understanding of complex phenomena and abstract problems. VUT intends to collaborate with other stakeholders to improve the quality of graduates at VUT as well as across South Africa.”
