IRVINE, Calif., November 22, 2010 – EON Reality, the world’s leading interactive 3D software provider, recently hosted nearly 100 Orange County career counselors and Digital Media Arts instructors. The educators heard and viewed demonstrations of many uses by industry of simulation and visualization technologies and how educational institutions around the globe are implementing amazing experiential learning environments. They also experienced first-hand – walking within a virtual 3D world in the EON Icube.

During the visit, the educators became aware that beyond the types of technologies produced by the entertainment sector, companies, like EON Reality, are providing industry and education with new technology capabilities for creating, or having created for them, interactive 2D or 3D digital content to communicate complex concepts with an impactful sense of realism. Many examples of interactive digital content were presented during the event by Marly Bergerud, Vice President, Education, and Mats Johansson, CEO and President, EON Reality.  While the attendees experienced the value of using 3D simulations in industry they were also shown how the interactivity of 2D/3D is being used in the classroom as a teaching tool to engage today’s learner in very exciting, real world environments from nursing to auto tech to installing solar energy panels or conducting a biology lab – from a desktop computer, a computer lab or watching an interactive demonstration by an instructor.

«Two critical pieces of information,» said Marly Bergerud, «that we would like you to take away from today’s experience are that: 3D Content Modelers and Developers are in high demand globally in this high impact growth sector, and, most important, that using interactive 2D/3D objects,  modules, or full course applications in the classroom provides a level of engagement for today’s learner to create more compelling, exciting ways for achieving near-level mastery – virtually and in a safe environment, enhancing recall, improving remediation, and, through this, having more completers

Kathy Johnson, Executive Director, Vital Link, was pleased to have the opportunity to bring  the annual Kick-off meeting of career counselors and Digital Media Arts instructors to EON Reality’s headquarters so the educators could experience interactive 2D/3D simulation solutions and begin to envision how this interactive digital content is needed and applicable to each of their educational environments.  Vital Link is a non-profit organization that supports OrangeCounty educators in making connections with business to bring relevance into the classroom. This visit assisted the participating counselors to be better prepared for providing students with the latest career information in a cutting-edge technology and the instructors to consider ways for enhancing their programs and learning environments.
