EON EON-XR empowers students and teachers to make engaging AR and VR knowledge transfer applications without programming skills.

IRVINE, CA, February 16th, 2016 – EON Reality Inc., the world leader in Virtual Reality based knowledge transfer for industry, education, and edutainment, announced the upcoming release of EON EON-XR (Augmented Virtual Reality), a mobile based application that enables users to easily create, share, collaborate, and publish Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) knowledge content. Using EON Reality’s patent pending Augmented Virtual Reality (EON-XR) technology, EON EON-XR combines both Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality with a large AR/VR component library and assessment database to create one of a kind learning experiences. EON EON-XR also leverages built in intelligence to help students and teachers quickly create highly interactive learning content directly on their tablets, smart phones, VR headsets, or AR glasses without requiring programming skills.

Today, creating content for Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality requires programming skills and the use of advanced authoring tools. The magic of EON EON-XR is that it allows anyone to create, upload, and share Augmented and Virtual Reality knowledge content in minutes with no programming. These apps can then be shared on EON Experience VR, a AR/VR based personalized learning library, for their students or classmates to experience or people around the world.

With EON EON-XR’s technology, multiple people can be immersed and collaborate inside the same application (AR or VR) as well as interact with the content and each other. Gamified learning elements further enhance the experience as learners can explore, play, work together, compete, and, ultimately, be rewarded. Built in assessment and coaching encourage and guide students to yield a higher level of retention and knowledge transfer.

“I cannot think of a better way to empower teachers and students than to provide them the means to make highly interactive Augmented and Virtual Reality lessons without programming knowledge,” said Dan Lejerskar, Chairman of EON Reality. “EON EON-XR’s intuitive and accessible lesson building together with proven power of AR and VR knowledge transfer is a crucial step to making knowledge available, affordable, and accessible for everybody on the planet.”

EON EON-XR’s drag and drop functionality allows users to quickly add interactions, different behaviors, and physics to over 8,000 AR/VR building blocks. These 3D models and 3D scenes are pulled from EON Reality’s extensive Augmented and Virtual Reality library, the EON Experience Portal and EON Experience EON-XR. These building blocks can then be further enhanced with external media such as YouTube videos, Wikipedia entries, PowerPoint slides, and more.

The market for Augmented and Virtual Reality is set to reach $150 billion disrupting the mobile market by 2020. Access to AR/VR content is a significant challenge to this rapid growth. EON EON-XR has designed from the ground up to address this content shortfall, make user-generated Augmented and Virtual Reality content easy to create, and to be a completely accessible platform for users around the world.

“A teacher can now have his or her students create EON-XR reports that the whole class can experience,” said Mats Johansson, CEO of EON Reality. “MRO and training applications can be created quickly by an instructor and then distributed to trainees. The possibilities are endless. By removing the high barrier to entry in AR and VR content creation, people from all walks of life can better communicate their ideas or quickly teach valuable skills.”

Here are just a few examples of EON EON-XR’s functionality:

  • Browse: Pre-existing 3D objects and 3D environments in the EON Experience VR Library
  • Populate: Place your 3D objects in the 3D scene
  • Scale: The size of the selected 3D objects
  • Configure, Build, and Plan: Combine different objects, and lay them out in the scene
  • Annotate: Add information to objects and scenes by attaching information such as name, description of the object, other Media, YouTube, Wikipedia, and PowerPoint presentations to the specific object or subcomponent.
  • Play Mode Level Template: Select and customize gamified features such as:
    • Intro: Enables Creator to design an intro to the specific gamified application, by voice, text, images, or video
    • Name, Locate, Build, and Quiz Interactions: automatically generate an Interaction request and associated functionality for the gamified mode
    • Levels: the template generates several gameplay levels with increasing difficulty
  • Other Features: physics on or off, and multiuser environments

The official launch of EON EON-XR will take place at the EON Experience Fest 2016 in Laval, France on March 16-17th. Access to EON EON-XR will be by annual or monthly subscriptions and will be available on the majority of VR headsets and mobile devices. EON EON-XR is now released to a limited number of selected users during the closed beta test phase and will be released to the public during the first quarter 2016. Detailed pricing information will be released shortly. Preferential pricing and discounting is available for developing communities and regions through the KnowledgeBit Initiative, part of the EON Learn for Life Program.
