Android and iOS users can now access the world’s largest Virtual Reality application library, the EON Experience Portal, on the go.
IRVINE, CA, September 15, 2014 – EON Reality Inc., the world leader in Virtual Reality based knowledge transfer for industry, education, and edutainment, has released an updated version of EON Mobile that brings EON’s world leading knowledge transfer software to mobile devices such as Samsung Gear VR, Samsung Note 4, Durovis Dive, and Apple iPhone 6, see attached video. Using EON Professional‘s one-click publishing to Google Play or the Apple App store, users can deploy their Virtual Reality applications for dispersed learning, reference in the field, or for on-the-go entertainment.

EON Mobile now supports immersive Virtual Reality with head-tracking utilizing a mobile device’s gyroscope. This addition enables a user to use his or her phone as a portable Virtual Reality device with Samsung’s Gear VR or by utilizing devices like the Durovis Dive. Mobile based Virtual Reality significantly reduces the barrier of entry to an immersive experience allowing applications, like EON Sports‘ SIDEKIQ, to reach many more users than is currently possible.

«Adding mobile support to SIDEKIQ is a game changer for Virtual Reality sports training,» said Brendan Reilly, CEO of EON Sports. «Prior to this update, you had to buy a decent amount of hardware to experience SIDEKIQ in 3D. With the new EON Mobile, you just need a mobile phone and a headset.»
Along with adding Virtual Reality support, EON Mobile’s one-click to Google Play and the Apple App store further cements EON Reality’s «Phone to Dome» deployment strategy. Content created on the EON platform can easily be used across an entire ecosystem of devices covering mobile phones to the Idome. EON Mobile applications have the same high fidelity and intuitive interaction that PC based EON applications do. These changes bring EON Reality’s world leading knowledge transfer software to classrooms, boardrooms, and field operations worldwide.

«A major reason for improving EON Mobile was our customers’ need to take their fully functional Virtual Reality applications into the field,» said Mats Johansson, CEO of EON Reality. «We were able to bring EON to mobile devices previously, but often times had to leave certain key functionality behind. Now EON Mobile can fully replicate, on a smaller scale, all the functionality present on complex EON simulations.»
The software behind EON Mobile has been redesigned from the ground up to improve performance and compatibility with existing EON simulations. These improvements, such as a new scripting engine, allow users to run their applications unmodified on mobile devices. Also, these improvements bring EON’s full object-oriented development environment to mobile devices and provide complete access to the world’s largest Virtual Reality library, the EON Experience Portal.
«By maximizing the compatibility with EON Professional’s development environment, users can now bring their high end simulations to mobile devices,» said Vinh-Sang Tri, Senior Lead Developer at EON Reality. «This compatibility also means that you can now get access to thousands of 3D objects available on the EON Experience Portal, which come with pre-programmed behaviors and logic, and use them in your mobile VR or AR application.»
You can download demos of EON Mobile from EON Reality’s webpage or from Google Play: Dolphins, GTE Turbine, and the SIDEKIQ sneak peek. iOS versions coming soon.
