Toronto-based Centennial College will become EON Reality’s latest XR collaborator in Canada.

EON Reality, the global leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality-based knowledge and skills transfer for industry and education, announces a new addition to their partnership with Mohawk College — the adoption of EON-XR at Centennial College of Applied Arts and Technology to help expand the college’s AR and VR usage.

In addition to the college’s addition of AR and VR content to their own subjects in numerous fields, the partnership will also see Mohawk College join Centennial in creating new content for EON-XR in both academic subjects as well as industries like energy, medicine, manufacturing, production, aerospace, and defense.

By pooling the resources and networks of EON Reality, Mohawk College, and Centennial College the partnership will undoubtedly have a strong impact not only for the schools’ respective students, but also many of Ontario’s residents and local businesses through functional and applicable projects designed in conjunction with the schools. Seen as the technology center of Canada, the new collaboration could also lead to widespread AR and VR usage as educators and students alike search for a solution to the holes in remote education plans made obvious in the wake of COVID-19.

Of course, this collaborative effort also comes as academic institutions around the world search for new methods to improve their pedagogical techniques both inside and outside of the classroom. That’s why EON Reality has recently collaborated with several of its partners to focus on making EON-XR as accessible as possible for instructors and students alike by helping them create their own lessons through the new Resource Center and other tools.

“There’s never been a more important time for accessible AR and VR remote education, and I’m very excited for what our new partnership with Centennial College brings to the table. I see this as a potentially transformative moment for Toronto and beyond, and — based on our existing success with Mohawk College — I know that our highest expectations will be not only met, but surpassed. As wonderful as all of the involved parties are, the impact of this deal is truly far greater than the sum of its parts.”

Dan LejerskarFounder of EON Reality

As academic institutions around the world like South Africa’s Vaal University of Technology and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Switzerland have already shown, creating lessons for EON-XR in local languages and fields of expertise can have a dramatic impact on both local and global students and educators. Giving respected colleges like Centennial and Mohawk the opportunity to submit their own additions to the expansive library (including the lesson highlights featured directly on EON Reality’s website) will certainly expand that even further for all of North America.

“We are proud of our strong partnership with EON Reality and look forward to extending the scope of our AR and VR initiatives in collaboration with Centennial College. Through this promising partnership, we will develop creative new models to deliver remote and virtual learning for Mohawk’s skilled trades and technology students. Within the context of the current public health crisis, it is even more important that colleges find new ways to co-develop and share resources for the benefit of our students.”
