Grant from Inter-American Development Bank together with local investors and EON Reality investment to establish center to train locals in Augmented and Virtual Reality development
IRVINE, CA, December 20, 2016 – EON Reality Inc., the world leader in Virtual Reality based knowledge transfer for industry, education, and edutainment, announces the establishment of an Interactive Digital Center (IDC) in the Dominican Republic as an anchor tenant of Parque Cibernético de Santo Domingo (PCSD). The Center is established with a grant from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), local investment, and investment by EON Reality to train locals in Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality development to create high paying, high skilled jobs.
The IDC and the students that graduate from its EON Entrepreneur School will create applications that will educate and train students and workers in both the Dominican Republic and the surrounding Caribbean and Central America. The Center’s goal is to train three hundred students directly and reach another 3,000 through Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality training and education applications. Additionally, the IDC and its students will form the foundation of a local knowledge-based economy that will attract other firms to the Dominican Republic.
Parque Cibernético de Santo Domingo is a public – private ecosystem where creative ideas coexist with innovative projects.
“Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality can dramatically improve education and training in a region,” said Dan Lejerskar, Chairman of EON Reality. “Together with Parque Cibernetico, we are bringing this technology to the Dominican Republic and, through the experiential learning of VR and AR, will accelerate regional training and education. Virtual and Augmented Reality helps people learn faster, remember longer, and decide better.”
Applications developed by EON Reality, such as baseball training, can help the people of the Dominican Republic learn faster, remember longer, and decide better.
“This is a major step towards building our future economic development as a Smart Nation,” said Eddy Martinez, President of PCSD. “This project will act as an inflection point for us as we look to create highly skilled knowledge workers, attract foreign and local investment and generate wealth to our people. Our partnership with EON and the support of IDB provide the basis for us to accelerate our path towards becoming the Digital Republic.”
The main areas of focus for the IDC will be tourism, sports (baseball), education, and health. The Center will open in the second quarter of 2017 and will begin accepting applications towards the end of March 2017.
