IRVINE, Calif., September 13, 2009 – EON Reality, the world’s leading interactive 3D software provider, delivered software for the KCTCS Interactive Digital Center (IDC) for the development of a new and groundbreaking interactive 3D simulation-based learning tool for new skills needed in a green economy. The Solar Installation application targets the basics of solar panel installation on a residential home and include; Introduction, System Sizing, Components, Installation, Simulation-Based Learning Exercises and a Glossary.
During the simulation portion where EON’s software is used the students apply his or her new found skills in an application that provides immediate feedback and allows for trial and error scenarios. The KCTCS IDC created this simulation-based learning module to serve as an introductory resource for programs attempting to address new energy occupations. This basic application can be further enhanced to include additional content related to installation of a solar electric power system.
KCTCS Director of Visualized Learning and Innovation, Jamie Justice, states that “this application is a great example of how simulation-based learning can be used to respond to new and emerging technologies or occupational training requirements.” The KCTCS IDC is an innovation and learning center created to develop new and unique methods to support education and training needs in an ever-changing economic environment.
