Singapore, October 4, 2010 – EON Reality, the world’s leading interactive 3D software provider, participated in the Usage of New Media Technologies in Tamil event on September 18th that was organized by Jurong West National Library and the People’s Association Frontier Community Centre, Indian Activity Committee, Narpani Peravai. This event was hosted by Mr. Gunasegaran, New Media Trainer from School of Design, Temasek Polytechnic.

The event’s main objective was to explore the usage of Tamil in new media and interactive technologies. The need for such an initiative is corroborated by the fact that Tamil literature has existed for more than two thousand years and as a result it has a large and extremely rich body of ancient literature, probably as old as Latin and older than Arabic. Today, there are about 68 million native speakers and 9 million second language speakers of the Tamil language, making it the 17th most spoken language in the world.

With the help of EON Reality, Mr. Gunasegaran was able to introduce and acknowledge the importance of using virtual reality and 3D simulation based learning particularly in the field of language education, training and learning in a Tamil context. Cutting edge interactive technologies such as EON Coliseum, EON Icube and EON Holographic I were showcased at this event.

To mark the development of Tamil applications on iPhone and iPad, two Tamil e-books were released for the iPad platform. The event also laid emphasis on the fact that there is a need for fully tapping the potential of using Tamil in new media tools for creative expression, synergistic exchange of ideas and communication.

“EON Reality offers fantastic innovative and interactive product portfolio that has the potential to make Singapore a leading education hub in the world, especially within 3D simulation based learning. I am sure the Tamil cause will receive tremendous energy through this initiative. I wish to explore the possibility of integrate 3D concepts and interactive elements in new media platforms such as developing user friendly applications to educate the future generation,” said Mr. Gunasegaran.
