EON Reality, the global leader in augmented and virtual reality skill and knowledge transfer solutions for academic and industry purposes, is proud to announce the release of a new EON-XR update (version 8.2). The new version includes the addition of multiple noteworthy features, as well as major improvements on old ones.

AR 3D Assessment
EON-XR’s 3D assessment tool has successfully helped educators and trainers all over the world, so it’s now available in Augmented Reality mode as well. This means that instructors will be able to assess their students in full-scale mobile AR, making each procedure-based evaluation perfectly applicable to the real world — even when it comes to location and surroundings.

Interactive Creation Improvements
The latest EON-XR update sees its suite of 360° creation tools revamped with an improved user interface and the option for express creation from within the EON-XR app. Coupled with new features like the option to automatically build memos and annotations using the Search Engine Results Page technology, EON Reality is focused on making sure that lesson creation is easier than ever before.

The Power of Unity
EON Reality has always put a priority on creating no-code development tools for its users, but EON-XR is now able to capitalize on the best features of premium VR technology by incorporating the industry-defining Unity game engine to the existing engines. Although utilizing the photorealism, realistic physics, smooth animations, and advanced integration capabilities of Unity within EON-XR currently requires some technical expertise, the EON Reality team is hard at work developing simplified settings to maintain the quality of the Unity features while removing the barriers of entry.

Additionally, working with Unity has helped to quicken the process of getting EON-XR features on to popular VR headsets, so EON Reality can now offer support for the platform on the new Oculus Quest 2 in addition to its previous hardware options.

Support for Mac
EON Reality’s goal is for EON-XR to be usable on virtually any device, so support for EON-XR has been expanded to include Mac operating systems. The expansion has been one of the most requested additions for EON-XR, and it’s available right now.

As far as other hardware-specific upgrades go, Magic Leap users will see improved multi-user functionality as well as persistent coordinate frames, making it a more seamless experience than ever for the spatial computing platform.

XR Meeting Upgrades
Finally, EON Reality is excited to announce that the latest EON-XR update brings with it a huge upgrade for our global user base when it comes to XR Meetings. Not only does the new UI provide a much smoother experience, but the new multilingual support means users can experience all of the benefits of EON-XR’s interactive multi-user solution in a variety of languages and alphabets. It’s just the latest step in showing EON Reality’s commitment to breaking down language barriers at a time when remote communication is at its most valuable.

As always, EON-XR update 8.2 includes some additional small tweaks and stability improvements, but make sure to keep an eye out for the next major updates coming in the near future.

Importing Enhancements
Even before users can utilize the lesson creation tools, there are some new additions to the ways in which 3D models and 360° images can be imported into EON-XR. Several “non-CAD” types of files, such as .fbx, .obj, .max and more are now integrated into the cloud conversion tool for EON-XR.

Of course, for those who would rather choose a pre-made object rather than upload their own file, the new Marketplace features — like asset preview and the enhanced dashboard — have significantly improved that experience as well.
