IRVINE, Calif., September 14, 2012 – EON Reality, the world’s leading interactive 3D solutions provider for business and education, has recently welcomed Mr. Joe Cheben as the newest member of EON Reality’s Advisory Board of Directors.

joe chebenCheben has an established career spanning more than 30 years working at ExxonMobil,  the world’s largest publicly traded international oil and gas company, and has been responsible for a wide variety of assignments covering plant operations, safety training, technology research, and project development.  He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Manhattan College, New York  in 1975 and 1976, respectively, as well as his Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston, Texas in 1982.

Cheben first joined the ExxonMobil team in 1976, where he was responsible for developing alternative concepts to produce aromatics-related chemicals during his time in the chemicals planning and research division.  From 1980 to 1991, Cheben was heavily involved with Exxon’s Baytown Chemical Plant (BTCP) in his roles as plant economist, asset manager, technical section supervisor, and technology section leader. Cheben undertook his first international assignment as the Rotterdam Chemical plant leader from 1991-1994 and was responsible for developing numerous projects and performing two internal OIMS (Operations Integrity Management Systems) assessments.  Upon his return to the US, Cheben took on the role of technology grid administrator from 1994-1997 and was responsible for managing quality control for the deployment of new technologies to Exxon’s plants worldwide.  His work in the technology division continued as the aromatics planning group leader in 1997-1999, support group leader from 1999-2004, and facilities planning engineering associate from 2004-2006.  In 2006, Cheben transferred to ExxonMobil Upstream in the role of LNG Safety Research Lead  working in advanced 3D immersive training for ExxonMobil Research Qatar (EMRQ) and as OIMS Coordinator in the study of remote infrared gas detection for the scanning and identification of hydrocarbon gas emissions in LNG production and transportation facilities.

Cheben currently resides in Boerne, Texas with his wife Maureen.
