By democratizing AR/VR content creation through an intuitive user experience, EON EON-XR targets EON Reality’s 36 million plus user base to increase the amount of user generated VR content available.
IRVINE, CA, April 8, 2015 – EON Reality Inc., the world leader in Virtual Reality based knowledge transfer for industry, education, and edutainment, announced plans for the release of EON EON-XR, a mixed reality consumer authoring tool, built on EON Reality’s patent pending Augmented Virtual Reality (EON-XR) technology in the fourth quarter of 2015. EON EON-XR combines the do-it-yourself functionality of EON Creator with an Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality experience that allows for easy creation of applications for mobile devices and AR/VR head mounted displays.
The market for Augmented and Virtual Reality is set to reach $150 billion disrupting the mobile market by 2020*. Access to AR/VR content is a significant challenge to this rapid growth. EON EON-XR has been developed specifically to address this and make user-generated Augmented and Virtual Reality content easy to create. EON EON-XR is designed from the ground up to be a completely accessible platform which supports computer based VR headsets and mobile devices (support for iOS and Android).
EON EON-XR utilizes EON Reality’s mixed reality EON-XR technology which allows users to manipulate the world around them and be immersed all at the same time; At arms length users have an AR user interface, at desktop distance AR objects can be manipulated, and beyond desktop distance users experience VR.
The floating GUI that powers EON EON-XR is a very intuitive platform activated by the users gaze, head or hand movement, and speech recognition. These features along with multi-user collaboration, cloud based experience saving, and the sharing of these created experiences makes it easy for average consumers to capture, create, assemble, experience, and explore EON-XR content.
“One of the challenges with Augmented and Virtual Reality today is the lack of content and how inaccessible the creation of this content is to the average user,” said Dan Lejerskar, Chairman of EON Reality. “By marrying EON Creator’s easy to use VR creation environment with our patent pending Augmented Virtual Reality technology, EON EON-XR offers an intuitive and accessible way for people from all walks of life to build their own AR and VR experiences. This is crucial to making Augmented and Virtual Reality part of our everyday lives.”
EON Reality’s patent pending EON-XR technology is a virtual environment utilizes an Augmented Reality ‘bubble’ for user interactions. Inside this AR bubble is a floating menu within arms length for users to interact with and at Desktop distance users will have access to Augmented Reality objects.
EON EON-XR’s drag and drop functionality allows users to quickly add interactions, different behaviors, and physics to over 7,000 AR/VR building blocks. These 3D models and 3D scenes are pulled from EON Reality’s extensive Augmented and Virtual Reality library, the EON Experience Portal and EON Experience VR. These building blocks can then be further enhanced with external media such as Youtube videos, Wikipedia entries, Powerpoint slides, and more.
“The magic of EON EON-XR is that it allows anyone with a mobile device to create, share, and experience Augmented and Virtual Reality in their own personal way,” said Mats Johansson, CEO of EON Reality. “A teacher can now have his or her students create EON-XR class reports that the whole class can experience. MRO and training applications can be created quickly by an instructor and then distributed to trainees. The possibilities are endless.”
Access to EON EON-XR will be by annual or monthly subscriptions and will be available on the majority of VR headsets and mobile devices. Detailed pricing information will be released shortly.
