UPTIME’s language learning app EON-XR + UPTIME, which uses EON Reality’s EON-XR Platform, has been rolled out to 50,000 Uptime Students
IRVINE, CA, May 29, 2018 – EON Reality, the world leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality based knowledge transfer for industry and education, and UPTIME, a Brazilian English education network, today announce the formation of EON UPTIME, a joint venture designed to bring EON-XR to English Language Learning. In utilizing EON Reality’s EON-XR, a SaaS Augmented and Virtual Reality learning product, and Classroom 3.0 principles, EON UPTIME will leverage EON-XR technologies to create immersive learning experiences necessary to accelerate language learning and build fluency.
EON UPTIME will, at launch, provide 50 lessons split across virtual reality and augmented reality developed to optimize the teaching of English as a second language. By utilizing Classroom 3.0 techniques, the students do the majority of learning outside the classroom and the teacher becomes more of a facilitator and coach. Students now will be immersed in language learning at home and in the classroom using AR and VR technology and collaborative classroom exercises. These AR and VR lessons will be available in Brazil on UPTIME’s EON-XR + UPTIME application and on EON-XR in the rest of the world.
“Education has not changed much since the last century. Classroom 3.0 is not a gamble, it’s a certainty,” said Sérgio de Souza Monteiro, Chairman of the UPTIME Group. “More than ever, education needs to integrate with technology to transfer knowledge in an optimized and accelerated fashion. In this scenario, virtual and augmented reality is a great ally, and we at EON UPTIME, will stimulate this revolution around the world. With UPTIME, in Brazil, I had the privilege of leading a change in the way in which English is taught and learned, now with EON UPTIME, we are bringing this change to people around the world.”
UPTIME’s EON-XR lessons use scenarios like the above to teach students English.
This collaboration began in 2016 with the EON-XR UPTIME project which was officially launched in UPTIME’s Brazilian classrooms in January of 2017. Currently 50,000 students use virtual reality and augmented reality in UPTIME’s English language school network where it is already showing benefits in accelerating language learning. The project, developed in partnership with EON Reality, led UPTIME to become the world’s first English language school with virtual and augmented reality. Brazilian and Portuguese students have access to ten activities, with the additional lessons created through the EON UPTIME joint venture this number will increase to 50.
“Learning a new language as an adult can be a challenging task, especially when you live in a community where that language isn’t regularly spoken,” said Dan Lejerskar, Founder of EON Reality. “With EON-XR and the subject matter expertise of UPTIME, we can deliver a language learning experience that creates the experience of complete language immersion and accelerates learning. When combined with our work in realizing Classroom 3.0, we will help improve English skills all around the world.”
With an eye on the Asian market, the initial activities of the joint venture will begin in Irvine, California, a city with a significant Korean, Chinese, and Indian presence. From here, there are plans to expand into Singapore, China, Japan, South Korea and other Asian countries.
