Mondial De L’Auto Paris / Paris Motor Show is an essential date in any motor buff’s diary. Every October, the latest and greatest from across some of the world’s biggest brands gather to share their knowledge, innovations, research and developments – such as Augmented Virtual Reality (EON-XR). And of course, the world’s motor giants are only too keen to utilise the global show as the ultimate premiere for the latest cars that can be expected on the market in the near future, following the week-long convention.

However, it’s no coincidence that 2018 marked a very different year for Paris Motor Show.

Cross-sector developments across AR, VR, AI, robotics, digital twinning, blockchain and similar technology has pushed the automotive agenda for Industry 4.0 in the spotlight. In keeping with this, the 2018 edition served as the inaugural year for Mondial.Tech.

This new event theme – all about innovation and technology in the automotive industry – curated some of the latest work done by a variety of companies, start-ups and more. A core theme focused on the use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) for workplace training, with talks given by startups and more established XR technology businesses, like EON Reality.

The advantage of a training simulation is money saving: no more raw material waste = quicker learning.

Naturally, we took the opportunity to contribute and extend our expertise in VR Training, AR workplace assistance and A/VR platform deployment with our long time partners and the long-time home of VR in France, Laval Virtual. So, Thierry took the stage not once but twice, as part of the industry leader strand, Expert Review, at Mondial.Tech to talk about our immersive learning model Learn, Train, Perform.DISCOVER EON-XR FOR MANUFACTURINGInitial Training
Initial Training for across the automotive industry is where the learning journey begins for people across the assembly line. Over the last two years, we have seen increasing use of applications made specifically for AR wearables and Head Mounted Displays (HMDs) for live performance, maintenance and repairs information data. These software solutions are usually siloed,

For agile teams within larger operational teams in large automotive enterprises, we are finding that mobile AR apps are quickly becoming the natural route for Augmented and Virtual Reality (EON-XR) applications, and for focus tests.

Training, Configuration and Maintenance

Training and Maintenance has all kinds of implications in the Automotive industry – health and safety, technical training, assessment of skills and even for the continuing professional journey.

Using Augmented and Virtual Reality (EON-XR), scenarios can be simulated with incredible accuracy. This means operatives can train and learn how to perform on virtual equipment endlessly. This saves costs for trainers and Learning and Development (L&D) departments. For automotive and motor companies, EON-XR can presents the potential for significant savings against the usually highly-expensed properties and centres used just for training, which typically see no cost efficiencies when rates of staff turnover increase year on year – right across the industry.

Product configuration for the consumer side of the automotive industry has seen rapid growth – particularly the use of Augmented Reality. For example, BMW allows its customers to configure a car using an AR configurator. The goal of this application is to cut down the time to purchase, commit the customer and push the information to their local dealership. Once that data’s been received, customers get the opportunity to walk around a virtual car, test drive it and define their care pre-build and delivery.AR and VR platform service technology – like EON Reality’s EON-XR Platform – is starting to take centre stage in the automotive industry across its various inter-industry sectors. Some of these include manufacturing and assembly, both of which were core to Thierry’s topics.
