The new Center will bring educational XR possibilities in Romania.
EON Reality, the global leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality-based knowledge and skills transfer for industry and education, announces a new partnership with Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB) in Romania. The collaboration will focus on building a state-of-the-art educational XR Center to serve multiple purposes within the area.
For one thing, the Center will provide UBB students and faculty the opportunity to improve their educational experience with world-class XR solutions, thus changing the pedagogical paradigm to focus more on procedural knowledge that cannot be taught in textbooks and videos. Additionally, the Center will serve as the area’s research and development hub for XR creation, whether that means pragmatic incremental developments or disruptive innovations.
“Our hope with through EON Reality is to help universities, colleges, and others around the world build world-class educational XR centers to better both their own students and faculty as well as the community around them. This opportunity with UBB is a perfect representation of that goal, and we could not be more excited to move forward with them.”
Dan LejerskarFounder of EON Reality
The new agreement falls right in line with UBB’s educational plans even before building an XR Center, as the school’s focus on utilizing new technologies has set them apart from many others in the region. As thousands of institutions around the world quickly found out last year, utilizing immersive technology and other solutions when it comes to issues like forced distance learning due to a pandemic can be crucial to a school’s success.
“Our collaboration in research started several years ago, when we developed the PsyTech Platform in the Avalon Building. The new Center is dedicated firstly to the education activities — as UBB has introduced quality distance learning in the academic environment in Romania, and now we are the first in the country to move it to a new level with mixed reality — and secondly to the research and development activities, thus connecting the Center with the socio-economic environment based on innovative cognitive and technological transfer. Although EON Reality’s platform is used by many other national and international actors, the new XR Center is organized to be the primary reference one in Romania and the larger region due to past experience and its complexity.”
