IRVINE, Calif., November 8 , 2013 – EON Reality Inc., the world’s leading interactive 3D software provider, announces that ITE – Institute of Technical Education, Singapore – has officially opened its Centre of Technology in 3D Applied Technologies at ITE College Central in the presence of Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
During the opening on November 8th ITE staff and students showcased one of several interactive 3D training applications that have been co-developed between ITE and EON Reality’s Singapore office for use in the immersive EON Icube system. The specific application showcased during the opening has been used by students during fall 2013 and enables trainees to virtually work on an oil rig, not only to familiarize themselves with the complex structure and various equipment used, but also to train themselves in performing important safety operations simulating real-life scenarios in various weather conditions.
The EON Icube solution installed at ITE College Central is EON Reality’s largest Icube installation to date, providing a full four-sided immersive room in a high resolution stereoscopic 3D format and offers full interaction in the learning applications developed in EON Reality’s software suite. This interactive 3D environment significantly increases the engagement of today’s digital learners by using innovative learning methods, enabling them to comprehend concepts faster, ignite their curiosity to investigate, and foster community learning. The facility will be used by ITE staff and students in a wide range or areas including Marine and Offshore Technology, Aerospace Technology and more.
Since its formation in 1992, the Institute of Technical Education has trained more than 350,000 of Singapore’s workforce, who have contributed significantly to the nation’s economy and growth. Following the launch of the first two comprehensive Colleges, ITE College East in 2005 and ITE College West in 2010, ITE opened the third and final comprehensive College, ITE College Central, in January 2013 which is hosting more than 10,000 students.
Mr Bruce Poh, Director and CEO of ITE, stated, “Collaborating with EON Reality has allowed us to bring the ‘classroom of the future’ to ITE. Virtual Reality classrooms complement ITE’s hallmark authentic learning pedagogy exceptionally well. The real-life scenarios have made learning more immersive and interesting for our students. We can now simulate learning situations where we may not be able to build the required physical infrastructure.” Mats W Johansson, CEO of EON Reality Inc, said, “EON Reality is proud to partner with ITE, one of the leading colleges for vocational education and training in the region. We have seen a strong trend during 2013 for the continued deployment by academic institutions worldwide of EON Reality’s leading Virtual 3D Learning solutions and are excited about this opportunity to contribute to Singapore’s edge in education and training.”
