The partnership includes groundbreaking EON-XR solutions for the faculty and students of the National University of Singapore

IRVINE, CA, March 29, 2022 – EON Reality, the global leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality-based knowledge and skills transfer for industry and education, announces a new agreement with the National University of Singapore (NUS) to expand the growing knowledge metaverse in Singapore.

Founded in 1905, NUS is Singapore’s flagship university. With over a century of education and innovation behind them, NUS now has 17 faculties and schools across three campuses, offering their students degrees in Science, Design & Engineering, Medicine, and other STEM fields. Their integrative, interdisciplinary education has also made them one of the world’s top computing schools. This year, a team comprised of a Master’s student and two graduates won the Best Student Paper award at the 17th International Conference on Computer Graphics Theory and Applications (GRAPP 2022). Given their academic legacy history and commitment to furthering the advancement of digital technology, NUS is a welcome and valued addition to EON Reality’s knowledge metaverse in Singapore and beyond.

“The National University of Singapore has a rich STEM tradition, and they continue to help their students and faculty with research in their respective fields. That research continues to yield results, as evidenced by the university’s recent GRAPP award,” says EON Reality founder Dan Lejerskar. “With 30,000 undergraduates enrolled annually and a 95%.5 graduation rate, NUS students have a sizable impact on society in Singapore. Access to groundbreaking XR solutions will move the university into the future of interactive teaching and give its students more opportunities to serve their community and the world.”

The new EON-XR delivery and welcome to the knowledge metaverse will allow NUS educators to offer their students “hands-on” training without the usual logistical restrictions in many forms of engineering and vocational studies. The technology’s lifelike 3D models and immersive environments will help professors in every department create stimulating and interactive lessons for those on campus and remotely. EON-XR may especially help students in the College of Design and Engineering (CDE), where future engineers, architects, and designers can collaborate on large-scale projects in the digital sphere that would be prohibitively expensive in the real world.

Now members of EON Reality’s Singapore network, NUS will be essential users of EON-XR and eventual contributors to EON Reality’s global network and the knowledge metaverse. Over 80 academic institutions have become creators and curators for EON’s knowledge metaverse in recent months, and each creates and shares experiences based on their areas of expertise. As faculty and students at NUS master EON-XR, they will provide crucial additions for EON Reality’s current and future academic partners.
