LACC is bringing EON Reality’s academic XR solutions to more students in the near future.
IRVINE, CA, February 10, 2022 – EON Reality, the global leader in Augmented and Virtual Reality-based knowledge and skills transfer for industry and education, announces a new expansion to their existing partnership with the Los Angeles City College (LACC).
The expansion — which stems from last year’s original collaboration made possible with help from the Los Angeles City College Foundation — looks to bring EON-XR solutions and the knowledge metaverse to LACC and other colleges in the LA Community College District, including introductions to some of LACC’s top programs. It will also feature the use of full-time EON-XR and AR/VR coaches to train instructors and staff on how to get the most out of the various offerings.
LACC, through it’s MetaCity program, began coaching and providing EON-XR directly to instructors in January 2022 with the hope of full integration occurring in a matter of months.
“Our partnership with LACC has been nothing short of successful so far, and I’m very excited to see it expand next year,” said Dan Lejerskar, Founder of EON Reality. “By providing EON-XR, the knowledge metaverse, and more to these schools, we are able to shape the future and enhance the capabilities of Southern California’s future workforce. It’s always nice to be able to feel like we are making a difference in our own backyard.”
EON-XR and Augmented and Virtual Reality experts hired by LACC help instructors develop and build unique XR lessons and experiences that specifically cater to their needs. But while many may focus on what they’re able to use the platform for themselves, EON Reality is also hopeful that LACC will become one of the frequent contributors for the growing knowledge metaverse. By adding some of their top lessons and experiences to the global pool of resources, LACC users will be able to both distribute their own knowledge while also receiving new information and experiences from students and faculty around the world.
“We are proud to continue our partnership with EON Reality and their innovative technologies to engage our students and improve learning outcomes,” said Dr. Mary Gallagher, President, Los Angeles City College. “We can now widen our use of XR technologies for lesson planning, teacher training and online education.”
More than 60 faculty, covering an extensive range of academic disciplines and student services, are currently being coached on using EON-XR and are developing quality and accessible Augmented and Virtual Reality learning resources and lessons.
“Augmented and Virtual Reality fills the gap between the virtual and real world and enables exciting and effective ways of teaching and learning”, said Marcy Drummond, Vice President for Economic and Social Mobility Innovation. “LACC wants to be at the forefront of this cutting-edge, educational technology through our MetaCity program.”
