Spatial meetings can bring users together in a more realistic way than ever imagined.

As seen in last month’s release of the 9.0 update to EON-XR and announcement of the new Merged XR product, EON Reality’s main focus has shifted to making the creation process for new XR content as smooth as possible. But what good are efficient and intricate creation tools if the finished products are difficult or unwieldy to experience?

That’s where the abilities of Spatial Meetings come into play. Through Spatial Meetings, users are able to teleport their peers, colleagues, supervisors, students, or other users into their existing physical environments through the use of XR. Using a device as common as a tablet or smartphone, the two (or more) will be able to explore, discover, converse, and learn while actively walking around and interacting with the host’s surroundings.

For the host, the notations, information, activities, and advanced avatars of the visitors will simply appear in their existing settings as if through augmented reality. At the same time, the visitors will see not only the host’s avatar but also a fully immersive and interactive digital replica of the entire environment as scanned into the solution using EON-XR’s Digital Twin technology. The host will also be able to create a guided path throughout the environment and highlight individual objects in real-time.

While EON-XR has long held the ability to host traditional XR meetings in which users can share a model or pre-existing 360° environment, never before have multiple users been able to interact and converse in their real surroundings. But in addition to the immediate functionality of real-time environments, Spatial Meetings brings several new features with it.

The most immediately noticeable improvement will be the avatars that display the other users’ locations and activities. No longer will they be floating heads, hands, and laser pointers, but instead a full active avatar with a large range of motions to go with all of the activities available within Spatial Meetings.

Additionally — seeing as EON Reality is a global company that believes its solutions and learning possibilities should be available for everyone — Spatial Meetings will feature real-time translation for dozens of languages. Even in an instance in which there are several users speaking in a variety of languages at once, Spatial Meetings will use AI-based translation tools to turn the dialogue into an easy-to-read text in any of many languages supported by the solution.

Through this enhanced process made possible by the new AI-based technology within Spatial Meetings, EON Reality hopes to encourage users around the world to truly embrace the immersive possibilities of bringing students and other viewers into their own complete environment rather than simply relying on 360° images and videos or 3D objects alone.
