Partnership brings the power of AR and VR to the University’s students and staff

The University of East London (UEL) today launched an EON-XR Center in partnership with global industry leaders EON Reality.

The new EON-XR Center, the first and only one of its kind in the UK, allows students, lecturers and industry partners to access Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) based training through a range of devices including the web, personal smartphones and VR headsets.

“Part of our 2028 strategy is to provide a 4.0 education experience for learners, giving graduates the skills, tools and competencies needed for the future workplace. Through our partnership with EON Reality, University of East London students will have access to cutting-edge technology in a convenient and widely accessible manner. The potential of AR and VR is endless, from supporting classroom-based training, to replicating labs and technical equipment in the student’s home via a smartphone app.”

Professor Amanda BroderickVice-Chancellor and President of UEL

“The EON-XR platform means that the University of East London can provide a truly incredible learning experience for its students regardless of location, area of study, or economic status. The wide range of practical applications and library of resources was a key factor in partnering with EON Reality, as from day one there is potential for AR and VR to be used to educate and train everyone from our health and engineering students, to those on architecture and photography courses.”

Professor Hassan AbdallaProvost of UEL

“With nearly 130 years of history and academic excellence, it is a privilege to work with the University of East London. There are very few universities in the world with that kind of legacy, and we are happy to embrace it and help them take the jump into the future with EON-XR. Just as they have seen the University grow and change over the previous century, I believe EON Reality can help open new doors for all types of students at the University of East London.”
